The New Hampshire Insurance Department has approved this course for 7 CE credits.
Students will learn from veteran field investigators how to properly conduct a detailed automotive fire investigation. Emphasis will be placed on identifying the components within the engine compartment, as well as the interior and exterior mechanical/electrical systems and components that are potential fire causes. A review of public and private fire investigator perspectives on investigating automotive fires will be given as it relates to spoliation of evidence, arson investigation, and subrogation. Students will witness the progression of a live vehicle fire. They will also actively participate in the course by conducting automotive fire investigations on previously burned vehicles, and then presenting their findings for critique. Instruction will be given for accurate origin and cause determination, failure analysis, appropriate handling of evidence, sample removal, and placing interested parties on notice when appropriate. Please be advised that the live automobile fire and entire day’s training will be held at The Candia Fire-Rescue Department, which is located at 11 Deerfield Road, Candia, New Hampshire. Certificates will be issued to students who have successfully completed the course.
